Day 1 – Journey to Devon & Exmouth Coast
Depart your local area following our convenient pick-up route and travel towards Devon, making a stop in the elegant seaside town of Exmouth. Situated where the River Exe meets the sea, Exmouth is one of Devon’s oldest and most loved coastal resorts, offering a lovely seafront, colourful marina, and pleasant town centre to explore at leisure.
During your visit, why not enjoy lunch or refreshments at The Powder Monkey, Exmouth’s popular Wetherspoon pub, named after the young boys who once carried gunpowder aboard naval ships during the town’s maritime past. Housed in a striking former bank building, it provides a welcoming place to relax and soak up the atmosphere.
Later this afternoon, continue through the rolling Devon countryside to Okehampton and check in at the White Hart Hotel, where we stay for the next two nights on a room-only basis. The remainder of the evening is free to enjoy Okehampton’s charming town centre, local eateries, and historic surroundings at your own pace.
Day 2 – Okehampton & Tavistock
Enjoy a leisurely morning in Okehampton, a historic market town sitting on the northern edge of Dartmoor National Park. Perhaps take breakfast locally, browse the independent shops, or enjoy a gentle stroll through the town with views towards the dramatic Dartmoor landscape.
Late morning, rejoin the coach as we travel to the attractive stannary town of Tavistock, famous for its rich mining heritage, pannier market, and elegant architecture. Birthplace of Sir Francis Drake, Tavistock is full of character, with plenty of time to explore the bustling market streets, riverside walks, and unique local shops.
You may also wish to enjoy refreshments at The Market House, Tavistock’s welcoming Wetherspoon pub, located in the heart of the town and inspired by the area’s long trading history.
Day 3 – Homeward Bound Crediton & Exeter
After checking out, we travel to the historic market town of Crediton for a short visit, offering a chance to enjoy its traditional Devon charm and relaxed atmosphere. During your time here, you may wish to visit The General Sir Redvers Buller, Crediton’s welcoming Wetherspoon pub, named after the famous Victorian military commander who was born nearby.
We then continue to Exeter, where there will be free time to explore the cathedral city’s historic streets, shops, and famous Wetherspoon pubs. These include George’s Meeting House, a beautiful former chapel, The Imperial, an elegant former hotel with stunning Victorian features, The Sawyer’s Arms, a lively and traditional city-centre pub, and The Chevalier Inn, a welcoming venue full of character.
